Professor, Head of the Media Informatics Lab at the School of Journalism & Mass Communications at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He received his BSc in Physics, MSc in Electronics and Communications, and PhD in Computer Science, all from Aristotle University. He successfully completed his doctoral dissertation on computer architecture in 1995. He is the co-editor of “The Handbook of Global Online Journalism” (http://eu.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-1444338552.html). He is also member of the editorial board in nine peer review scientific journals in the area of journalism and mass communications. He is the author or co-author of 30 books, he has published 68 papers on scientific journals and he has presented 107 papers in international and national Conferences. His current research interests include media technology, web 2.0/3.0 tools in media / new media, course support environments, data journalism, open data, social media content verification, Internet censorship, cross media publishing and others. Professor Veglis has been involved in 28 national and international research projects.
